Swift® Microwave Therapy: A Cutting-Edge Approach to Wart Treatment

Swift® Microwave Therapy: A Cutting-Edge Approach to Wart Treatment

The microwave is one of the marvels of the modern age. Many of us take these devices for granted now, but the microwaves that power these small, ultra-convenient ovens continue to unlock new advances.

Specifically, those microwaves’ ability to safely produce heat can be a game-changer when you’re dealing with persistent warts.

As wart experts, Christopher Vittori, DPM, and Ameet Thakrar, DPM, strive to offer the latest, most effective solutions to these unwelcome skin infections. That’s why we now offer Swift® microwave therapy to treat warts right here at our Vittori Foot & Ankle Specialist offices in Homer Glen and New Lenox, Illinois.

If you or your child has plantar warts that keep coming back, this cutting-edge treatment could be the solution you need.

The problem with plantar warts

Not all warts are painful, but if you develop them on the bottom of your foot, they probably will be. These plantar warts might feel like a hardened bump on your foot, and they’re usually sensitive when you apply pressure to them. That can make simple daily requirements like standing and walking painful.

To make plantar warts even more troubling, they have a tendency to recur. That’s because these skin infections develop as a result of human papillomavirus (HPV). The wart might shrink without HPV fully leaving your body. Given enough time, the virus creates a new wart on your foot.

You don’t necessarily want to wait out the wart, either. It can last for years if you don’t treat it.

Getting rid of plantar warts and the cause behind them

Many wart treatments take a topical approach, addressing the surface of the wart but not the overall HPV infection. Swift microwave therapy is different.

With this treatment option, we use a specialized device to send microwave energy into the wart. The heat from these waves destroys the HPV at a cellular level, eliminating it from your body. As a result, Swift microwave therapy can help you resolve warts that keep coming back.

That’s not the only reason we recommend this wart removal option. Swift treatment doesn’t cause any pain and only takes about a half-hour. You’ll need two or three sessions to fully eradicate the wart, but once it takes effect, this treatment keeps the wart away for good.

Dr. Thakrar and Dr. Vittori don’t offer this wart removal treatment to just adults. Swift microwave therapy is also safe and effective for kids and teens.
